DEPARTMENT PROGRAMMES

(A) Mathematics Games Day and Math Trail for Secondary 1 students

Mathematics Games Day

To facilitate the joy of learning in Mathematics, our department organises the Mathematics Games Day for all Secondary 1 students as a post SA1 activity. Students learn Mathematics concepts (e.g. financial literacy) and level up their analytical and problem solving skills through a variety of Mathematics related games.

Mathematics Games Day
Our department organises the Mathematics Trail for all Secondary 1 students as a post SA2 activity. This activity is conducted outside of school. In 2016, the trail was conducted at Marina Barrage.  Students are provided the opportunities to apply mathematical concepts and problem solving skills in a real world context.

(B) Talent Management Programmes

Secondary 2 Peer Tutoring Programme

The Mathematics Peer Tutoring Programme provides the platform for our Secondary 2 students, who demonstrate higher abilities in Mathematics, to put values into action by tutoring in our neighbouring primary schools.

In the after school weekly sessions, the identified peer tutors will guide the primary school students to complete Mathematics worksheets. Through this programme, our Secondary 2 students strengthen their communications and reasoning skills and their self-confidence.

We have been partnering Edgefield Primary School (2014) and Greendale Primary School (2015 – 2018) for this programme.

(C) Support and Intervention

Ace-Learning Portal and Google Classroom
Our students are subscribed to the Ace-Learning portal for the learning of Mathematics. The resources in this portal facilitates students’ self-directed learning in Mathematics. Teachers also leverage this portal to customise lessons for students to do independent learning at home. Useful resources and videos can also be uploaded onto google sites and google classroom to support students’ learning.

Secondary 1 Mathematics Bridging Programme
Identified Secondary 1 students will undergo this programme to strengthen their foundation in Mathematics and support them in coping with the demand in the Secondary School Mathematics.
