Programmes 

1. Sec 1 Values-in-Action (School Improvement) - Charity begins at home

Objectives

  • To enable students to develop social consciousness in the context of improving the environment within the school community.
  • To enable students to learn to appreciate the works of others, so as to develop social consciousness in their daily habits (e.g. keeping their environment clean).

Description

Secondary 1 students embarked on self-initiated projects to improve the school environment. Students are assigned different areas of the school by classes. After several class discussions, students crafted proposals for submission to the school leaders for approval before commencing their work. In term 2, every class worked on a simple project to show appreciation for the school’s CSOs and cleaners.

2. Sec 2 Values-in-Action - My Community, My Home

Objectives

  • To enable students to develop social consciousness in the context of serving the community.
  • To create platforms for students to demonstrate school value of Propriety ( ) and Righteousness (

Description

Secondary 2 students embarked on projects that incorporates elements of service-learning with scaffolding which includes helping the classes to liaise with organisations.

Some of the organisations that the Secondary 2 students worked with include Bright Hill Ever Green Home and SOSD Dog shelter Volunteer & Donation. Some classes also embarked on the HDB Ambassadors Programme, sharing eco-friendly tips and spreading the message of neighbourliness in the community. One of the classes went on the Lorong Halus ABC  Trail where they share eco-friendly tips and the importance of conservation with others.

3. Sec 3 Values-in-Action - Unity in Diversity

Objectives

  • To enable students to develop social consciousness in the context of initiating projects to serve the community.

Description 

Students embarked on self-initiated service-learning projects with some guidance from their form teachers. Students contact the organisation they have an interest in serving and lead their classmates in the planning of the programmes to meet the needs of the residents/people of the organisations.

4. Sec 4 and 5 Values-in-Action - Passing the Torch

Objectives 

  • To enable students to develop social emotional competencies in leading advocacy projects.
  • To create platforms for students to demonstrate school value of Propriety ( ) and Righteousness (义)

Description

Students conduct research on a social issue of interests in groups. Upon completion, they will advocate their causes to their juniors in the school.

The graduating students also participate in selling flag to raise fund for the community.
